Brodie’s Books
Student project
I’ve created a strategic brand system for Brodie’s Books - a 15-year-old online bookshop, selling rare collectible second-hand books, located in Edinburgh, Scotland. They’ve decided to buy an old bar in the city center, and convert the space into a bookshop and cafè, a place for book lovers to escape the hustle and bustle and enjoy their unique books and their coffee brew “Brodie’s brew”. Their shop is named after the character Jean Brodie from the book The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie by Muriel Spark.
The brand identity I’ve created for Brodie’s Books depicts an imaginary version of Jean Brodie, which together with the other illustrations of rare creatures, symbolizes the products that Brodie’s Books specializes in – rare books. The brand identity I’ve created is timeless, luxurious, and memorable, inspired by rare creatures, fairytales, and the beauty of old books, and aims to spark interest not only with book lovers but also with dreamers, vintage enthusiasts, and those who appreciate something very special.
